To discover:

History of the Great War
The Somme bears the scars of the Great War: trenches, mine holes, destroyed villages remind us of the painful events that took place here 100 years ago.
The Circuit du Souvenir, a route linking the two symbolic towns of the Great War, Albert and Péronne, allows you to discover and understand this page of international history.
From the Australian Trail of Remembrance to iconic locations behind the front lines, discover a completely different side of the First World War battlefields.

Amiens
The Somme is considered the cradle of prehistoric archaeology. It is also that of Gothic, of which it houses the jewel: the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Amiens.
Amiens is an unjustly overlooked city.
Your getaway will be cultural and festive: the cathedral, an immense stone vessel, is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
At its feet stand the small houses of the medieval district of Saint-Leu, built on the water's edge. These smart facades now house bars, restaurants, antique dealers and craft shops where it is pleasant to stroll. A trip to the heart of the floating gardens of the hortillonnages is also a must.

Ham and its surroundings
Come and discover the heritage and activities! The remains of the castle listed as historical monuments, the Notre-Dame church whose foundations date back to the 12th and 13th centuries, the town hall and some art-deco facades that date from the reconstruction. It should be noted that Ham was almost completely destroyed during the First World War.

The Bay of Somme
Ranked among the most beautiful bays in the world alongside the bays of San Francisco and Halong, the Bay of Somme is an exceptional natural site.
Cinemascope landscapes, an impression of the end of the world, cliffs, sand, dunes, pebbles, marshes follow one another and complement each other to create an extraordinary landscape, far from the concrete coastlines.
Here the sky and the sea merge. Here, they say that the lights change every moment. The colours too. The Bay of Somme has always been an inexhaustible source of inspiration for painters and writers: from Degas to Corot, from Jules Verne to Colette…

Gastronomy:
Potato land!!
To the east of the department, is a region called Santerre or the potato land par excellence. Taste Picardy gastronomy with the different varieties of potatoes produced in the Somme: pompadour, ratte, vitelotte, juliette des sables which grow in the sandy soils of the Bay of Somme and nowhere else.
